FDM
DLP
FDM, or "Fused Deposition Modeling", is a style of printing where solid material is melted down, extruded, and dried, layer by layer until a finished part is created. This is the most commonly used form of 3D printing, and is typically what you will have seen if someone shows you a part they have 3D printed.

DLP, or "Direct Light Processing", projects ultraviolet light into liquid resin, quickly curing it layer by layer. The result is a finished product of hardened resin, which is cleaned and set under additional UV light for final curing. DLP printing generally allows for more complex, and higher quality prints but can be more costly.
